Celebrating at the Buffalo Yacht Club, c1913

The Perry Centennial commemorated Commodore Oliver Perry's victory over the British in a decisive War of 1812 battle, which netted the Americans control over Lake Erie. The centennial festivities included a 15-city Great Lakes tour of the rebuilt U.S. Brig Niagara, which had been Perry's relief ship during the Battle of Lake Erie. Buffalonians welcomed the ship to the Buffalo Yacht Club.
